It's a good choice if you want surfing lessons and plenty to do, rather than if you want a week away from it all. Newquay is also a good base for exploring Cornwall, as it's less remote than the Lizard Peninsula, Land's End or St Ives.

1. Haven Perran Sands Holiday Park (busy Haven holiday park, indoor swimming pool, beachside location)

Haven has got two holiday parks in Cornwall including Perran Sands in the Newquay area and Riviere Sands, which is in the more remote section around the South West of the county.
Family friendly caravan park Perran Sands gets a solid 4/5 from most reviewers and it's very well equipped. It's also got the South West coastal path nearby and it's walking distance to a nice stretch of beach.
The particularly good news is that the beach next to Perran Sands is one of the cleanest in Cornwall. Perranporth Penhale Sands scores the maximum three star rating from the Environment Agency for 'excellent' water cleanliness in summer.
It's got indoor and outdoor swimming pools, surf and paddleboard lessons, food outlets, evening entertainments, a sports court and adventure golf. Getting to Newquay itself is a 20-minute drive, but you'll spend a lot of your time at the nearer beaches.
Haven is one of the biggest names in the caravan holiday park market in the UK. You'll generally find they cost a little bit more than rival Parkdean Resorts holiday parks (lots of them were formerly called Park Resorts holiday parks). However, average review scores tend to be a little higher as well (see our Haven v Parkdean comparison).
Perran Sands also has glamping tents and yurts, which are usually cheaper than a caravan or chalet. If you want to upgrade from a caravan, there are posher 'beach houses', which are more like the lodges that you get at a lot of UK holiday parks.

2. Trevella Holiday Park (10 minutes to Newquay, fishing lakes, outdoor swimming pool)
Trevella Holiday Park is just outside Newquay. It’ll take you about 10 minutes to drive to the town’s main beaches or you can get to Crantock Beach in five minutes by car.
The resort offers a bit of a quieter holiday experience than you’ll get from a caravan park right in the centre of Newquay. It’s got a couple of fishing lakes, which might keep some members of your party happy.
There isn’t an indoor swimming pool, but the outdoor swimming pool is heated. Other activities onsite include a minigolf course and a playground, but it certainly doesn’t offer the jam-packed schedule of a Haven holiday park.
Customers say positive things about this park. It scores an average of 4/5 on TripAdvisor or an impressive 4.4/5 on Google Reviews.
You can bring a pet with you to Trevella Holiday Park. It’s worth noting that it’s quite a hilly site, which might be tricky for some people.
Price: £1149 for a family of four sharing a two-bedroom caravan. The caravan is designed to take six people including two in the lounge. Squeezing six people in would but a little cosy but it would lower the price per person. Another option is to pay about £115 extra for a caravan that sleeps eight people. That would be a little cosy, but you’d be paying £20 per person, per night which is a good price for Cornwall in peak season.

Perran View Holiday Park is a caravan site run by John Fowler Holidays. They’re a popular mid-market chain that is usually good value.
It isn’t right in Newquay but it’s a decent choice if you want a slightly quieter setting that is close enough for day trips. It’ll take you about 20 minutes to get to the seafront in Newquay or the rather lovely beach at Perranporth is five minutes away in the car.
The resort at Perran View is well-equipped with plenty of activities. There’s a modestly sized playground, tennis courts, football pitch, volleyball and pool tables as well as a BMX track, which is unusual for a holiday park. During the peak season there are shows for children.
You can argue your way through a game of minigolf ("that was a practice shot" etc.) and go for a swim in the indoor swimming pool. The swimming pool isn’t huge, but you’ll be glad for somewhere to go if you arrive to find it’s pouring with rain.
There’s a pub onsite if you don’t want to cook.
The accommodation at Perran View Holiday Park is more like terraced chalets rather than caravans. The good news is that they aren’t as narrow and wobbly as caravans but keep in mind that you have to be able to climb stairs.

Piran Meadows Resort and Spa is at the posher end of Cornwall's holiday park market, but prices are comparable to others that don't get such glowing reviews.
It's exceedingly well equipped with indoor and outdoor swimming pools, as well as a sauna, fitness suite, golf simulator, soft play, archery, fencing, horse riding, quad bikes and somewhere to eat. Bear in mind that some activities cost extra.
Reviews are very good, averaging 4.5/5 on Trip Advisor or 4.6/5 on Google Reviews. The main downside is that it's a 10 minute drive inland from Newquay, so you can't walk to the beach.

5. Hendra Holiday Park (indoor swimming pool, great reviews, short drive to beach)
Hendra Holiday Park is another very well-equipped Newquay holiday park with loads to do onsite for families. It's a couple of miles from the beach, but reviews are amongst the best in Cornwall, averaging about 4.5/5.
The park is busy with indoor and outdoor swimming pools (the indoor one has three flumes), as well as activities for kids, places to eat, playgrounds and a skate park. They also do some more unusual activities such as lifeguard training.
It's about 10 minutes by car to the seafront at Newquay where there are various family friendly things to do, such as Newquay Activity Centre.
I'd say Hendra Holiday Park is a good choice if you want somewhere you can spend a couple of days onsite. It's big and busy, so it's not one for someone looking for a week of silence and solitude.

Our price comparison looked for the cheapest accommodation available for a family of four. We wanted a holiday in early August 2025 for two adults and two children and searched for it in September 2024. We didn't include any extras or upgrades, such as bringing a pet. Here are the results:
