Center Parcs Europe - the simple trick to save money on your booking

Center Parcs Europe operates as a separate company to Center Parcs UK and it's generally a lot cheaper for a similar holiday if you do some research (see our comparison for more waffle on Center Parcs UK v Center Parcs Europe).

However, you can get another significant discount on Center Parcs Europe with a simple trick. 
If you book your Center Parcs Europe holiday through the French version of the website - CenterParcs.fr - it is usually cheaper than booking via the English language website CenterParcs.com for the exact same holiday. The UK is listed under 'R' for 'Royaume-Uni' on the booking form.
In fact, after searching nearly 300 prices we found that CenterParcs.fr was cheapest or joint cheapest in about 7 out of 10 searches (read on to see the numbers, if you can be bothered). I would also check prices on  CenterParcs.de if you want to be thorough. It is much less likely that CenterParcs.eu or CenterParcs.nl will be the cheapest.

In one instance we found that the saving was more than £300 for a week's holiday. Two other savings were £250 and £180. More often it is a saving of about £75 - £100.

That's the gist of it, but here's more detail on how to save money on a Center Parcs Europe holiday:

So how much can I save by booking through CenterParcs.fr instead of CenterParcs.eu?

The difference in price between CenterParcs.fr and CenterParcs.eu varies, but you can frequently save about £100 on a week's holiday and sometimes more. 

For a price comparison we looked at the price of a week's holiday at all of the Center Parcs Europe sites in France, Belgium, Germany and the Netherlands. We looked at dates in Easter 2024, August 2024 and October 2023 and compared prices on CenterParcs.fr  (the French language version), CenterParcs.eu (the English language version), CenterParcs.nl (the Dutch website) and CenterParcs.de (the German website).

In total we looked at 81 different holidays and 324 prices (needless to say, there was nothing good on telly that night).

Out of 81 holidays, CenterParcs.fr was the cheapest or joint cheapest option 60 times. CenterParcs.eu was cheapest or joint cheapest 10 times out of 81 and CenterParcs.nl was cheapest or joint cheapest six times. CenterParcs.de was cheapest or joint cheapest 18 times out of 81.
To put it another way...CenterParcs.fr gave us the best price in 74% of searches. CenterParcs.de and CenterParcs.eu were occasionally cheaper whilst CenterParcs.nl rarely offered the best price.
In our comparison, the biggest difference between the highest and lowest price for the same holiday for UK travellers was for a week at Center Parcs Les Landes de Gascogne in France in August 2024. CenterParcs.eu quoted us 2192 Euros whilst CenterParcs.fr quoted us 1849 Euros for the same holiday. That's a difference of 343 Euros, or just over £297 (exchange rate correct at the time of writing). That means you're getting a discount of roughly 15% just by using the French version of the website.

​You might assume that it would be cheaper to book a Dutch Center Parcs holiday from the Dutch website and a German Center Parcs holiday from the German website but we didn't find that to be the case. For some reason, the French website was usually the cheapest whether you were booking a Center Parcs holiday in Germany, France, the Netherlands or Belgium.

All four websites ask you to pay in Euros, so you might be charged a fee by your bank regardless of which of the four sites you use. The Money Advice Service has advice on avoiding these fees.

Is it difficult to book on the French version of the Center Parcs website?

No, not very.

Firstly, ask your browser to translate the page for you. On most mobile browsers, translating from French will pop up as an option at the bottom of the page. On a desktop, if you're using Chrome you can right click and choose 'Translate to English'.

It gets a little confusing when Google translate attempts to translate the names of the Center Parcs sites. For example, Le Bois aux Daims becomes The Fallow Deer Wood and Les Trois Forets becomes The Three Forests (as these screenshots show):
However, if you have the intelligence to a) tie your own shoelaces and b) drive a car in Europe then I'm going to take a leap and say that you can probably figure such things out for yourself. 

If you find it easier, you can do all your research on CenterParcs.eu and then book it through CenterParcs.fr. 

I must admit, it took me a few seconds to find the right country on the booking form as Google Translate struggles with drop down menus sometimes (and I wasn't too sure if I was from England, Great Britain or the United Kingdom). 

Try searching for Royaume Uni, which is French for the United Kingdom.

Can I use the same trick for getting a discount at Center Parcs UK?

No, I'm afraid you can't book UK Center Parcs through CenterParcs.fr. They operate as entirely separate companies despite the shared name. 

Generally speaking it is very hard to find discounts for Center Parcs UK.

Are Center Parcs Europe any good?

Our guide to Center Parcs across Europe concluded that the parks in France, Germany, the Netherlands and Belgium aren't as consistent as the UK Center Parcs.

However, if you do a bit of research you can find Center Parcs Europe which receive comparable customer reviews and much cheaper holidays (generally). 

To get you started, take a look at these five Center Parcs in Europe, which all get good reviews. In no particular order:
  1. Center Parcs Le Bois Aux Daims in France scores 4/5 on average from reviewers. It opened in 2015 and is a 3 hour drive from St. Malo.
  2. Center Parcs Het Meerdal in the Netherlands scores 4/5 on average from reviewers and is 3hr 30m drive from Calais.
  3. Center Parcs Park Bostalsee in Germany opened in 2013. It scores 4/5 on average and is a 5 hour drive from Calais.
  4. Center Parcs De Vossemeren in Belgium​ is a 3 hour drive from Calais and scores​ 4/5 on average.
  5. Center Parcs Erperheide in Belgium is also about 3 hours from Calais and gets very similar scores to Vossemeren (we stayed at Erperheide in 2024).

We carried out the searches in October 2023 and looked for a week long holiday during the UK school holidays at Easter 2024, August 2024 and October 2023. The dates for October 2024 hadn’t been released when we did this comparison.

So, for a holiday at Center Parcs Belgium we found that Center Parcs France was cheapest or joint cheapest in 11 out of 15 searches whilst CenterParcs.eu was cheapest or joint cheapest on 2 occasions and CenterParcs.nl was cheapest twice as well.

In conclusion

CenterParcs.fr was the clear winner for holidays at CenterParcs in France, Germany and Belgium. For holidays at Dutch Center Parcs it was a bit less clear so I would compare prices at CenterParcs.fr with CenterParcs.nl.
